Jata C is a group of composers who share common interests in field recordings, bioacoustics, sound ecologies, and a deep understanding of scientific and indigenous notions of sonic environments. They explore auditory perception to combine ecological and social themes. In their compositions, they use the recordings of immediate experiences of the world and propose speculative projections and propositions for future realities.
The members use various field recording devices to capture a range of environmental acoustic phenomena that reflect deep listening and non-anthropocentric relationships with biotic and non-biotic entities. In the performances, the group mainly uses laptop instruments and MIDI extensions following a general score with space for improvisation and live musical interpretation. They compose quadrophonic and octophonic multichannel fixed media compositions and sound installations.
