Jata C is a group of artists who share common interests in field recordings, bioacoustics, sound ecologies, and a deep understanding of scientific and indigenous notions of sonic environments. They explore auditory perception to combine ecological and social themes. In their compositions, they use the recordings of the immediate experience of the world and propose speculative projections and propositions for future realities.
The members use a wide variety of field recording devices to capture a range of environmental acoustic phenomena that reflect deep listening and non-anthropocentric relationship with biotic and non-biotic entities. In the performances, the group mainly uses lap-top instruments and their MIDI extensions following a general score with some space for improvisation and live musical interpretation. They also compose 8-channel fixed media and sound installations.
