Improvisation for cymbals and electronics with many loops in a quadraphonic spatial arrangement creates a dense, hypnotic sonic fabric. Through multiplication, sampling, and looping with modular synths, the artists build a network of responses that stretch time and expand space into a multi-layered soundscape. The cymbals no longer function solely as a percussive source, but also as triggers of microtonal interferences that spread through the space in dialogue with the electronics. The loops are layered, overlapped, and transformed, while the performers respond acoustically and electronically to emerging sonic impulses in real time, shaping a dynamic, organic structure at the edge of control.
Bios
Jaka Berger – Brgs is a versatile artist who has been co-creating the core of the Slovenian independent music landscape for more than twenty years. The drummer, percussionist, composer, improviser, electronic experimenter and sound researcher virtuously moves between jazz, free jazz, improvisation, electroacoustics, dub, noise, experimental hip hop and punk. In recent years, Berger has been one of the key links of the Slovenian experimental and modular scene. As an initiator of the Clockwork Voltage community, he connects artists from various artistic fields, organises meetings, concert cycles and workshops, and is a driving force of the development of modular synthesis in Slovenia.
Ida Hiršenfelder (beepblip) is a sound artist and archivist making psychogeographical, spatial and ambisonic compositions, sound installations and sound walks. Her work primarily explores sound ecology and spatialisation, addressing themes such as the agency of non-organic others, non-human languages, and listening to the inaudible. She is a member of the Jata C group for bioacoustics and sound ecologies, the Clockwork Voltage community for modular synthesis, and the CENSE Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies. Her solo albums were published by the Kamizdat label. She frequently composes for contemporary dance, for which she received the Golden Lightning Award for soundscape from the Bunker Institute in the 2023/24 season.
Urška Savič (Sava šumi) (1992) is a photographer, critic, radio artist, and producer. She graduated from FAMU (Academy of Performing Arts, Prague) in 2014 and earned an MA from ALUO (Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana) in 2020, focusing on archival practices in contemporary art, for which she received the Prešeren Award. She has served as the artistic director of the Open Radio Investigative Art Platform R A D A R since 2019. She has been teaching at the ALUO Department for Photography and is a member of the Fotografija/Membrana editorial board. She is also a member of the Kela photography collective and writes reviews for the 3rd program of Radio Slovenia – Ars.
