U3, 7th Triennial of Contemporary Art in Slovenia was curated by Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez who was focused in presenting “community-oriented, site-specific, participatory, performative, architectural, social, civic and other discursive practices exploring new (or revived) community principles, such as the “do-it-together”, urban gardening, and co-working, as well as the fundamental social question of how we coexist.” Theremidi Orchestra (Ida Hiršenfelder, Dare Pejić, Robertina Šebjanič, Tina Dolinšek, Saša Spačal, Dušan Zidar, Luka Frelih, Tilen Sepič, Simon Bergoč) as a DIY / DIWO on-going workshop was one of the many collectives and initiatives presented at MSUM, Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova, Ljubljana. We draw a murial of electronic circuit shematics with conductive ink in reference to Nam June Paik’s “Random Access Music” installation. The ink was connected to a DIY Theremini 4011 circuit and produced sound in relation to resistance on the murial, regulated by the visitors who were touching it. The visitors were also invited to try out four of Theremidi Orchestra’s instruments.
The curator organised the triennial in collaboration with other festival activities and initiatives. Theremidi Orchestra was invited to perform a sound piece in collaboration with Mladi levi festival for contemporary dance. On 23rd August, 2013 we performed after Miha Cigler‘s experimental sound art work Sonic beams / Acoustic shadows.
Later that year, we were invited to another exhibition at Gallery of Contemporary Art Celje Sculpture Today: Performative Bodies and Space, Sculpture Today is a research of sculptural practices in Slovenia running from 2010. It presents contemporary sculpture as an expanded field that goes beyond the definitions of the medium and enters the field of the social, scientific, technological and interdisciplinary. The fourth edition of Sculpture Today entitled presented works that contain movement, aliveness and changeability. Theremidi Orchestra performed a drone noise piece for the openning of the exhibition on 26th September, 2013. The exhibition was openned till 24th November, 2013.
